Jan works as a technical assistant in the area of in-process control (IPC) and actively supports the fermentation processes in the upstream area. His area of responsibility includes monitoring critical parameters to ensure that the production processes are stable and that the high quality requirements are met at all times.
Every day, Jan takes samples from ongoing production, including cell cultures and culture media. These samples are prepared quickly and analysed within a maximum of 30 minutes, as fast results are essential for process control. Some of the samples are archived as retention samples, while others are sent for external analysis, for example for endotoxin tests.
Jan's core responsibilities include measuring the pH value, determining cell density and vitality, analysing metabolites and active ingredient concentrations, and checking for microbiological contamination and osmotic concentration. For this purpose, he uses specialised analysis devices such as blood gas analysers and cell counters.
Thanks to his precise and efficient way of working, Jan makes a decisive contribution to ensuring that biotechnological production runs smoothly and that high-quality, safe products are created.
